What I Love Most About Sports

The thrill of victory, the agony of defeat, wild comebacks, and dominating performances.  These are all good reasons to like sports, but to me, there's one reason to like sports more than any other--because in sports, unlike in life, any team can win on any given day.
How many times have we seen it?  Unranked Div 1-A Appalachian State taking down Michigan in college football a few years back.  The barely over .500 Giants taking down the undefeated Patriots in the Super Bowl.  Countless Cinderella upsets in the NCAA Tournament.  We see amazing underdog upsets in every sport every year.
Now how often do you see that in life?  Very, very rarely.  Usually the top dogs stay on top.  Usually the little guy remains on the bottom.  And that's why sports make for the greatest of escapes, because out of nowhere an upset can happen.  No matter how insane the match up seems on paper, they still have to play the games.  And sometimes in those games, unlike life, the little guy can taste victory.
